ARTIST PROFILE

Journey.

Jean Godard said that a good story always has a beginning, a middle, and an end, although never necessarily in that order, and that feels like the epitome of her life story.

Somewhere along the lines, stories of a young Asian girl, born and raised in an out of place state, somehow strays from the quintessential life of Montanan folks and immigrant parents.

No one makes it out of dust fields with clean hands. She is inspired to find a diversity of her own, and this good story, will inevitably become a great one.

I didn't know I needed to feel broken, to feel whole again.
Similar to art.
I didn't know I needed to be lost as an artist, to be the kind of artist I wanted to be.

ARTIST STATEMENT

The synopsis of my oddly written movie to my vulnerability, resistance, through this cultural lens, and a devotion to myself and my art. My artist statement is similar to a wedding toast or like a vow that is a confession of my tumultuous relationship with my sincerity to Art. As the introduction to my lover, and my partner, and my therapist. Exploring all options of performative pieces to installations and furthering pieces that are representative of my current thesis and projection. My contemporary thoughts about “thee” Temporary is what is most relevant in my overall understanding of my arts and their cycle of life, and how and what it represents within “The Now”.

The beginning thoughts of what is the representation of a temporary being. A state of residing within the contemporary: slowly transitioning back into retrograde. Temporary is a phase within a series of states. A limited time of an entity or a substance. Thee latin root for “ism” means a study of art, a study of philosophy- Temporalism, a study of a state of being. I’m coining this term.

These pieces all fall under the temporary space, but within this space holds touches of anxiety and vulnerability and representation through family ties, cultural identity, self evaluation, political influences, and my womanhood that alludes to a more principal personal action or resistance. Visibility and underrepresented introspections hold a lot of value within the contemporary space, and what it means to protest these emotions during This moment. There is no need to hold onto the temporary that lives in this space to exist on its own, and that capturing it only adds so much value as we give it. I believe in my value of Now. During these moments. During these pieces. During this lifetime that inevitably will transpose my self, and my spaces, and my pieces.
